This round shocked the shooting public when it debuted at Shot Show in 2005. 8mm cartridges had never really succeeded in the American market so it was a shock when Winchester introduced this one. Traditionally American manufacturers opted to go up to .338 for their “heavier than .30” offerings instead of 8mm.
